Botanical and floral extract ingredients

The Power of Flower Extracts & Seed Oils

In celebration of summer and transitioning into fall, I wanted to share some of my favorite East Sound Lane floral and seed oil ingredients along with their properties.

Flower & Botanical Extracts & Seed Oils

Blueberry in the Skin Silk Serum & Good Night Botanical Glow Oil

Blueberry extract is a source of pro-retinol which helps to reduce the appearance of the tell-tale signs of ageing: fine lines and wrinkles. Combined with the linoleic content which strengthens the skin's natural barrier, blueberry extract hydrates and plumps the skin, making it look youthful and radiant

Carrot in the Antioxidant Serum with Seabuckthorn and Carrot Root, Good Night Botanical Glow Oil

rich in bioavailable beta-carotene, the pre-cursor to Vitamin A/ Retinol. When in contact with skin's enzymes, carrot cells release their active nutrients to help protect cells from free radical damage and aid in rejuvenation and repair.

Goji Berry

The goji berry is packed with minerals, including 11 of the key 22 essential dietary trace minerals, which include calcium, potassium, zinc, iron and selenium. While each mineral performs its own actions, together they all help to firm, tighten up, and plump the skin’s appearance. From a tactile point of view, they even help to make skin feel softer to the touch. The berry gives the skin a healthy glow through an abundance of naturally occurring carotenoids, which are flavonoids including beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene and others. These all act within the body as antioxidants, protecting cells from free radicals that help destroy cellular membranes and DNA within the cell.

Grape Seed in Bright Eyes & Skin Silk Serums

Grape seed oil is rich, moisturizing and gentle. Grape seed extract, meanwhile, delivers vitamin E, a nutrient that concentrates in the membranes of skin cells and helps hold on to moisture.

Hibiscus in Beauty Body Oil and Hibiscus & Rose Plumping Serum

Hibiscus flowers are packed with antioxidants that conserve and help to rebuild collagen and elasticity that promote a plumped and hydrated even skin tone. The high Vitamin C content in hibiscus powerfully promotes to the synthesis of collagen. Studies have shown that Vitamin C can help to precent and treat ultraviolet-induced photo damage.

Kakadu Plum in the Kakadu Plum Natural Glow Oil, Summer Botanical Glow Serum & Good Night Glow Serum & Oil

Contains unparalleled levels of naturally-sourced, stable vitamin C, which protects skin cells from UV damage, improves appearance of sun-damaged skin, strengthens barrier response, promotes collagen, and lessens hyper-pigmentation.

Kangaroo Paw Flowers in Kangaroo Paw Flower Oils (face & body)

Kangaroo Flower Extract can help the skin visibly regenerate itself more effectively. The flower is also rich in Ferulic Acid, a potent Antioxidant, and Linoleic Acid, a good source of Omega-6 Fatty Acids. Kangaroo Paw Flower is full of nourishing fatty Acids that are essential when it comes to keeping your skin looking its healthiest.

Orchid extract stimulates skin cell vitality and supports the cellular metabolism. It promotes the ability of cells to regenerate, strengthens the cell membrane and protects the skin's immune system. This active ingredient is one component used in many of my formulations.

Tomato in Summer Nights’ Botanical Glow Oil & Mornings Ritual Renewal Oil

Tomato seed oil is rich in lycopene a potent antioxidant also in the carotene family. It serves to protect skin from environmental damage including over exposure to the sun.
